What We Believe
Statement of Faith
We receive the Bible in its entirety, and the Bible alone, as the word of God written, inspired by God, and, therefore, the infallible rule of faith and practice. In view of contemporary theological discussion, we explicitly affirm our belief in the following specific Biblical doctrines, even though they are stated in the historical confessional formulations:
The one true God, existing eternally in unity and in the tri-personality of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The unique nature of humankind as a moral and rational being created in the image of God, and the historic fall of humankind into sin, bringing all humanity under divine condemnation.
The full deity and true humanity of Jesus Christ, His personal pre-existence, virgin birth, and sinlessness.
The historic death of the Lord Jesus Christ for our sins, a voluntary, substitutionary sacrifice, and His bodily resurrection.
The justification of sinners by the Lord Jesus Christ through faith alone.
The deity and personality of the Holy Spirit, the effective agent both in regeneration and in that holy living which is the necessary evidence of true faith.
The visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ in Glory.
The resurrection of the redeemed to enjoyment of God forever in His presence, and the resurrection of the unredeemed to judgment and everlasting punishment.
The church universal is in partnership with God in the establishment of the Kingdom of God and its holistic transforming power particularly for the poor and vulnerable.
We also affirm the faith statements represented in the Lausanne Covenant.
