National Movements Defined
A Mature National Movement shares a common vision, mission, values, philosophy of ministry, and faith statement with other national movements in the Covenant of Partnership. Each mature national movement has created a partnership with the Global Board and Global Council which expresses its uniqueness as well as its shared commitment to strengthen and widen the partnership. This commitment to the partnership also includes a commitment to participate in the GPUT prayer network through sharing prayer requests and praying for other movements.
A mature national movement contributes a prophetic voice to their respective churches and societies. A mature national movement will create culturally appropriate plans to promote our shared vision in their churches and societies.
A mature national movement is geographically, ethnically, and economically diverse. It intentionally works toward a fuller expression of ethnic and economic diversity representing their specific geographical context.
Structurally, a mature national movement:
Has an independent board that has a majority of non-Servant Partners staff
Has General Directors that are legally employed by the national entity
Possesses a legally registered entity
Has indigenous national leaders that are the majority of the organizational structure and play at least some executive function
Hires their own staff and creates policies for their organization
Supervises more than one local site
Has their own financial structures and accountability
Takes responsibility for the funding of their organizational needs
Has their own Supporting and Equipping Ministries structures as needed (not dependent on Servant Partners USA for administration, communications, member care, etc).
Has an identified pipeline for recruitment
Has a vision and plans to send out workers and/or create new works in multiple cities, cross-culturally, and cross-nationally where appropriate
Emerging National Movements are movements that desire to affiliate, but do not, yet, fit the criteria of a mature national movement. They have signed the Covenant of Partnership, formed a partnership agreement, submitted the appropriate administrative documentation, and have begun a three year implementation plan towards becoming a mature national movement. They are able to vote on the Global Council.
Potential National Movements have the potential to be in multiple sites and to initiate organizational structures (e.g. legal status, a board, a bank account, etc) within three years. They are ministries that either work under or has a partnership with an independent national organization that is willing to support the ministry through efforts such as recruitment, financial assistance, leadership development, training, fiscal sponsorship. They come as observers, but are not able to vote on the Global Council.
